Perth: Engaging Mexico 2016
Last night ANZMEX turned its attention to Perth, hosting an event called Engaging Mexico 2016. The same event was held in Sydney last year, both coinciding with the Latin America Down Under conference.
The cream of business, government and academia were there on the night, including HE Dr David Engel, Australian Ambassador to Mexico; HE Armando Alvarez, Mexican Ambassador to Australia; Dr Mario Alfonso Cantú, General Coordinator of Mining Ministry of Economy, Mexico; and, Mr Esau de Vega. Senior Advisor. Trade & Investment for Strategic Markets. ProMexico, Australia, amongst many other VIPs.
It was very clear on the night that the business world's enthusiasm for working with Mexico is growing strongly, with a wider appreciation of the country's rapid development and openness to doing business internationally. The common theme amongst the speakers was that the opportunities for collaboration between the countries are huge, but the relationship remains in its infancy even as the countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations.
International legal firm Norton Rose Fulbright hosted the event for the second year running, with Pulse Markets also contributing strongly to the event. ANZMEX's Sydney Lead, Eddie Aquino and Norton Rose Fulbright's Christian Navarro and Rachel Monger deserve special mention for driving the event forwards and ensuring it was a big success on the night.
